It takes a Village, May 2014

So, May was ROUGH...I hurt my back really bad, and I was laid-up in bed for over two weeks.  The exact same day I hurt my back, Davey was diagnosed with a relapse in his MS.  He was also mostly bed-ridden for the majority of the same two weeks.  Thank GOD for my parents, our friends, and our church family at TCC.  The boys spent the night at my parent's house for two weeks straight, and honestly spent the majority of the month there in general as we tried to recover.  Meanwhile, back at our house, my friends and church family supplied us with meals every day.  I can't tell you how much we appreciated all of the help--we were truly in need, and you all showed what it really means to "be the body of Christ".  Most of the pictures this month, as you'll see, are at my Mom's house and taken by her--because that is where the boys were!  I am so grateful for the sacrifices that my parents made in their own lives this month so that we could rest and recover--THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!!  It was so nice to see these pictures though and to know without a doubt that the boys were totally fine, even when we were down for the count.  In fact as Davey put it, "Why wouldn't they be--I'm sure they feel like they're staying at a kids resort at your parent's house!"  They did indeed!

Leaving off from last month, Tommy lost another tooth the very next week!

Time for some spring window clings!

The boys love to help Grandma with her gardening!

Picking weeds is hard work!

Where did Tommy and Ethan go?!

It's ALIVE!!

Those are two cute caterpillars!!

The pirate ship has made it through several voyages!

Ethan thinks it's about time for him to be Captain!

Safety first!

We were so thankful to have Granny come back and join us for Mother's Day <3

Happy Mother's Day, Granny!!
Now it's time for a little fun in the pool!!

I sure did miss those smiles!!

Although I had to remain lying down on the couch, I was glad to be able to come over for Mother's Day...

I loved finally getting to see what the boys had made for me at school over the past couple of weeks <3

Reading some of the boys descriptions of me....like Ethan saying I had black hair 0_0

I am so proud to be the Mother of these two amazing guys!!

The boys got the best present of all on Mother's Day--a new swing-set for Grandma's house!!

They were so cute riding that together :)

Like Davey said, it's a kid's resort at the Hayes house!

After all of that playing, it was time for the boys to earn their keep a little!! ;)

Okay, let me just give you fair warning that this next picture fully encapsulates the true sweet yet dorky nature of my boys--it is CLASSIC!!!!

After spending the majority of the month at Grandma's house, it was nice to have the boys back home.  Our final meal was to be brought over by Wendy, and she asked if we were up for coming over for a cookout.  I was feeling better by that point and ready to leave the house, so off to the Cook's we went!!

Tommy and Natalie :)

Looking pretty comfortable holding that baby--it won't be long (although it will feel soooooooooo long!)

Hi guys!!

I was pretty impressed with the style--Ethan picked out their clothes for the last day of school!
Sometimes it really does take a village, and we are so thankful for everyone who stepped up during that time to do something kind and thoughtful for us.  I encourage everyone to try to recognize and be aware of others who need a little help from the village, and be that for them!

Spring has Sprung, April 2014

After a cold winter, it feels good to wear shorts and sandals again!  And, first up on our to-do list was trying to teach these guys how to hold their own in the swimming pool!  We signed up for 8 lessons at Clubworx, and although they can't swim solo yet, at least they are more comfortable in the water!

The one girl kicked all the boys' tails!!

From one sport to the next, time for a little baseball practice!!

Hmmm...can you tell it's been a while since we practiced?? ;)

Off to Grandma's house for a little science and gardening lesson--Cha Cha Cha Chia!!
Well, kind of--the boys grew some grass planted in little "animal" pots :)

Pouring in the soil and then filling it with seeds :)

Haha, Tommy eagerly awaiting the animals to grow their "hair"!

A fun game they play with Grandma--"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion/sully sleeps tonight!"

Time for a little snack and play-time with our little next door neighbors!

They think they are hot stuff with their very own patio set!

Granddaddy carrying the load--who wouldn't need a little drink haha!

Upon further evaluation, Granddaddy has a better idea to pitch....

Hahahahahahaha....good try, Granddaddy--they gave it their best!

That's what I like to see--my boys taking good care of a girl!  Just like their Daddy!

Getting a little gross motor/risk taking in!  We were practicing for jumping in the pool :)

That's "3" buddy--time to jump!

What a night!!  These boys are tuckered out!

I am not sure exactly what happened to me for these...I was either sick or had initially hurt my back...seems like such a long time ago!  Anyway, Davey took the boys to meet up with his Dad and Grandmother for their annual Easter egg hunt at Woodland Terrace!

Look at those handsome guys!

Tommy getting his face painted!

SPIDERMAN!

Not sure if you can tell from the pic, but Ethan chose to have his face painted like.... a pumpkin--very Easter of him :P

The boys had their own Easter egg project to do at Grandma's house--coloring and decorating eggs!

No trip to Grandma's is complete without a sneak attack from Granddaddy!

Ethan is fleeing the scene...will he make it?!?!

Not a chance!

After all the fun Easter preparations,
the good ol' Easter bunny finally made his way to the Catchings house on Easter morning!

Happy Easter!

Ohhhh how I hope this will continue!!

Okay, this picture starts a series of just classic Ethan faces...the boy is hilarious and has no idea!

The house favorite "Whatchutalkinbout Willis" face :D

Easter Sunday at TCC :)

It was bright out--you can't win 'em all!

Grandma and her two favorite guys!

Happy Easter from the Catchings family (party of 5 at this point!)

Out of our Sunday's finest, it's time for boys to be boys....

He had no idea anyone was watching him from the window!

Who doesn't like a good charcoal ash storm?!
A new treat for the boys to play with at Grandma's--sandboxes!!

As if they needed any further ways to get dirty!!

Time for a bath after all of that dirt and sand!

Taking advantage of some good biking weather!  Ethan opted for a ride rather than riding ;)

And now for a little fun for Mommy and Daddy!  Our good friend, Megan Danaher, was surprised by her Mom, sister, and myself for a 80's theme 30th birthday bash--it was totally radical!! ;)

So fun!!

We all did our best to come dressed in an 80's theme, but Davey once again stole the show!!

The birthday girl's little girl, Riley, with her parents--Keith and Marcia!

Look at these hot dudes!

And, the month comes to an end with our little furry (or, should I say grassy) friends needing a haircut!!

Bye-bye hair, and bye-bye April!  But, before we go, there was one more important goodbye in this month....
