Week 12, Earscut and the Giant Bunny

Okay, so it's not my best title yet, but it does the job.  This week was supposed to be a nice, relaxing week where I could catch up on some things since all of the parties were finally over.  Instead, I had a low-grade fever from Monday-Thursday, which has caused me to be dizzy and weak for the majority of the time.  So, not much to say for the beginning of the week, but we certainly made up for it this weekend!

On Friday, we undertook the dreaded "earscut", which is how Tommy says haircut.  I made him a checklist, that somehow I forgot to take a picture of, and we went through it ALL DAY.  1) Haircut 2) Grandma's House 3) Pizza, and 4) Grandma, Grandad, NoNo (Uncle Nolan), and LoLo (Aunt Laura).  So, he definitely understood the sequencing when it came down to it, which was cool to see.  He actually let me cut 5 chunks of hair before he started crying, which was a HUGE improvement over 0!  And, it was pretty cute that after those initial chunks, he brought me his beloved Teddy bear, "Ted", and told me it was Teddy's turn.  So, after Ted had about 19 turns, along with Ethan's 5 second haircut, it was go time again for Tommy.  Unfortunately, we did have to hold him down for the rest of it, BUT we were able to do it in about 5 segments of "counting to 10".  Although he was screaming throughout, he understood that once we got to 10, he could have a break, and that we had to continue the process until it was done.  Progress.  As promised, just as soon as we said "All done!" he immediately yelled out, "TRAMMA'S HOUSEEEEEE", and so off we went to watch the Wolfpack lose in frustrating fashion :(  But, check out my cute little basketball stars!

Also, Tommy has gotten very good at saying "GO STATE" or "GO TARHEELS" (that one is courtesy of Aunt LoLo) or GO WOLFPACK", and finally "BOO DUKE" (which we all support, except for Daddy!!).  He was pretty cute watching the game!    On Saturday, we went over to Grandmother's retirement home for their annual Easter celebration.  Aunt Becky was so nice to meet us there too--what a HUGE help to have her help with our very active boys!  We had a great time eating lunch together and got some super cute pictures from a really cool photo booth they had set up there.  Here are some of the pics--the last one is Tommy trying to give Ethan a kiss--so precious!

I'll have to ask Aunt Becky to send us a video of this, but probably one of the funniest parts of the afternoon was the absolutely terrifying Giant Bunny they had walking around to spread Easter cheer....or horrible nightmares!!  It truly was an ugly and scary looking bunny, with just black holes cut out for the eyes instead of some cute oversized bunny eyes!  Anyway, needless to say, the boys were not a fan.  Tommy actually handled the bunny better than Ethan though, which was a bit shocking in and of itself--he was able to cope by waving and loudly saying "BYE BYE BUNNY!!".  Meanwhile, poor little E was scared half to death, trying to climb up Davey to scramble away from the monster as fast as possible!  It was pretty adorable actually :)

I'll end the post with a couple of art projects that Tommy did this week.  Obviously, I drew the animals, but my big guy cut the colored squares out of a strip of paper that I drawn lines on (I had to help him open the scissors, but he can close them by himself now!).  Then, he placed them right inside the squares I had drawn on the animals, without any help--so cute!  He also got all of the letters right on the first time--both animals!

Oh yeah, down 1.4 this week--woohoo!!  Even with an awesome party on Saturday night...it's hard making points with parties every single weekend!!

Week 11, Wolfpack and Babies in the house!

So, Week 11 marks the end of the host of parties at our place until Ethan's 2nd birthday at the end of June--wahoo!!  After recuperating from Tommy's birthday party and all of the playroom work, we had to do a quick change of the house scenery to accommodate my friend Katie Park Taylor's baby shower.  They aren't finding out what they're having until he or she decides to pop out!  It was a small, but very fun gathering.  The shower started off on the right note as our NC State Wolfpack advanced to the Sweet 16 by beating Georgetown!!  That was our "shower game" haha--we all just ate as we watched until the sweet end!  Finally another little update on the weight loss.  If you've been following along, you know we hit some rough patches--not proud of it, but those were not good weeks for me.  That said, I'm back on the right track, and I lost 3.4 lbs over the past 2 weeks, to put my yearly total at 10.  I still have SO FAR to go, but here's to getting it done!  Enjoy the shower pics :)

Week 10, All Aboard!!!

This was a busy, but very fun week!  After finishing up the final touches on the playroom (thank you Papa and Granny!), it was all about the birthday party.  My big guy is turning 3 this Tuesday, but we had his party this past Saturday.  It was a train-themed party, and he really had a blast.  It filled me with such joy to see the pure happiness and wonder in his little face the whole time.  He knew the party was all about him, and he LOVED every second of it!!  So, without further ado, check out these pictures!!

I'm also quite pleased to announce that my little shindig was "published" on a very popular blog!  Here's the link:

And now, to wrap up the week, here are 2 of the cutest videos you'll ever see!!

Week 9, THE Playroom

That's right, just like "THE Ohio State University"...I'm a little bit proud of this playroom--we did it all ourselves!  I painted everything, and Davey assembled the awesome furniture from IKEA.  I am just thrilled with the way it turned out.  That said, I think I worked literally the entire week to get this finished.  With Tommy's birthday party the following weekend, I don't know what I was thinking, but I wanted it done!  Tommy loved coming into the newly painted room--"GR--EEEENNNN, TU-WUUUEEE" (supposed to be blue haha).  They seem to enjoy having all of their toy options at their full disposal now.  And, I must admit, clean up is SO MUCH EASIER when every toy has it's place.  So, without further ado, here are the playroom pictures!

Week 8, Addy's Shower

Okay, so this post is a few weeks late, but better late than never.  The past 3 weeks have been SUPER busy, but also SUPER productive--woohoo!  The highlight of Week 8 was the bridal shower of Winston Walters and Addy Mingus on Saturday evening.  We all had a really good time, but I didn't get a chance to snap pictures during the shower, only before.  I unfortunately don't recall too much else about Week 8--I'm sure the boys did some really cute things, and I'm so mad at myself for getting behind, because as predicted, I can't remember their cuteness from this week.  Alas, I'm back, and check out the pictures from the shower :)
