Week 12, Earscut and the Giant Bunny

Okay, so it's not my best title yet, but it does the job.  This week was supposed to be a nice, relaxing week where I could catch up on some things since all of the parties were finally over.  Instead, I had a low-grade fever from Monday-Thursday, which has caused me to be dizzy and weak for the majority of the time.  So, not much to say for the beginning of the week, but we certainly made up for it this weekend!

On Friday, we undertook the dreaded "earscut", which is how Tommy says haircut.  I made him a checklist, that somehow I forgot to take a picture of, and we went through it ALL DAY.  1) Haircut 2) Grandma's House 3) Pizza, and 4) Grandma, Grandad, NoNo (Uncle Nolan), and LoLo (Aunt Laura).  So, he definitely understood the sequencing when it came down to it, which was cool to see.  He actually let me cut 5 chunks of hair before he started crying, which was a HUGE improvement over 0!  And, it was pretty cute that after those initial chunks, he brought me his beloved Teddy bear, "Ted", and told me it was Teddy's turn.  So, after Ted had about 19 turns, along with Ethan's 5 second haircut, it was go time again for Tommy.  Unfortunately, we did have to hold him down for the rest of it, BUT we were able to do it in about 5 segments of "counting to 10".  Although he was screaming throughout, he understood that once we got to 10, he could have a break, and that we had to continue the process until it was done.  Progress.  As promised, just as soon as we said "All done!" he immediately yelled out, "TRAMMA'S HOUSEEEEEE", and so off we went to watch the Wolfpack lose in frustrating fashion :(  But, check out my cute little basketball stars!

Also, Tommy has gotten very good at saying "GO STATE" or "GO TARHEELS" (that one is courtesy of Aunt LoLo) or GO WOLFPACK", and finally "BOO DUKE" (which we all support, except for Daddy!!).  He was pretty cute watching the game!    On Saturday, we went over to Grandmother's retirement home for their annual Easter celebration.  Aunt Becky was so nice to meet us there too--what a HUGE help to have her help with our very active boys!  We had a great time eating lunch together and got some super cute pictures from a really cool photo booth they had set up there.  Here are some of the pics--the last one is Tommy trying to give Ethan a kiss--so precious!

I'll have to ask Aunt Becky to send us a video of this, but probably one of the funniest parts of the afternoon was the absolutely terrifying Giant Bunny they had walking around to spread Easter cheer....or horrible nightmares!!  It truly was an ugly and scary looking bunny, with just black holes cut out for the eyes instead of some cute oversized bunny eyes!  Anyway, needless to say, the boys were not a fan.  Tommy actually handled the bunny better than Ethan though, which was a bit shocking in and of itself--he was able to cope by waving and loudly saying "BYE BYE BUNNY!!".  Meanwhile, poor little E was scared half to death, trying to climb up Davey to scramble away from the monster as fast as possible!  It was pretty adorable actually :)

I'll end the post with a couple of art projects that Tommy did this week.  Obviously, I drew the animals, but my big guy cut the colored squares out of a strip of paper that I drawn lines on (I had to help him open the scissors, but he can close them by himself now!).  Then, he placed them right inside the squares I had drawn on the animals, without any help--so cute!  He also got all of the letters right on the first time--both animals!

Oh yeah, down 1.4 this week--woohoo!!  Even with an awesome party on Saturday night...it's hard making points with parties every single weekend!!
