Happy Halloween!! With Halloween falling on Wednesday this year, we basically had an entire week of festivities to celebrate! I won't lie, I can't remember a ton of "stories" from this week because it was just so packed with activities we were constantly on the go! So, I'm sure some of these pictures aren't in chronological order, but this week I think I'm just going to let the pictures tell the story!
Ethan's rendition of "Spookly"
Tommy's wans't much neater, but at least he added a little more color :)
Tommy was so excited to see Mrs. Kelly dressed as a pumpkin--so cool!!
Tommy and Mrs. Emily--what a cute pair :)
Mrs. Emily and Ethan looked pretty adorable in their matching doctor costumes!!
Tommy the fireman, just checking to make sure everything's up to code with the fire hydrant :)
So cute!
He looks so grown up here...except that he's barely taller than the fire hydrant haha!
Haha, this is about right...Ethan is such a pumkin head!
Thanks Goggi for watching them on Halloween morning, and for capturing these photos and videos--they are awesome!! Tommy loved riding on the space shuttle at the mall with Goggi, Granny, and Grandpapa. Then, one of my favorite all-time videos follows it as Tommy and Papa Bill have a disagreement about the name of the "aircraft" he's riding. Tommy insists it's an airplane, but he comes around at the end...kind of :)
We're on our way to go trick-or-treating in downtown Fuquay for the first time! Ethan had a wardrobe change so he could be like big brother!
The Captain!
The junior fireman :)
Here we go!!
Tommy had the tipping his cap thing down pat!
My favorite wizard holding my fire chief's hand--priceless!
Please sir, a little candy for a little ginger?!!
Tommy thought it was so cool to go see the real firemen :)
Our little firemen at the FV fire department
Tommy thought the huge fire truck was so amazing--"Wowww...look at that!!!"
Gazing down the expanse of the fire truck :)
Ethan and Daddy were both rocking Hufflepuff colors--go Badgers hahaha!!
Tommy thought he was just one of the guys at the fire station--so cute!
Ethan's ready to move on to the next stop!
Ethan was running in front of me the whole time!
I ran ahead to capture this shot of all 3 of my guys on our first trick-or-treating experience <3
I'm getting the feeling that this one isn't taking his "job" as seriously as Mr. Chief!
The Chief is all business :)
After we finished up downtown, we made one last stop at the pumpkin patch--the boys absolutely love going there, and Tommy thinks he is the man riding that tractor. Trust me, I can't tell you how many times I was asked, "Mommy, can we go ride on the tractor at the pumpkin patch today?" I'm still getting asked!
Tommy taking care of business
Everyone pile on the tractor!
Here come the cutest firemen in the world!
Ethan's on lookout duty, while Tommy has the wheel :)
Who's that cute guy in the middle?!
Love all 3 of my guys!
All in a day's work, ma'am :)
Tommy looking for a "square pumpkin" like Spookly!
After the pumpkin patch, we headed over to Grandma's office so she could see how cute the boys looked in their outfits!
They loved showing off the mini pumpkins they chose at the patch :)
Ethan loved his pumpkin!
While the boys were at Granmda and Grandad's house, we stayed home and enjoyed a peaceful night at home and attended to our trick-or-treaters!
Davey sneaking in a quick kiss for the camera :)
Happy Halloween from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff house!
My silly man smoking his carrot cigar...such a rebel!
Mmmmm, homemade chicken soup warmed us right up on that chilly Halloween night!
Headed to Goggi's house for the day on Saturday--HOORAY!!!
Despite the boys' cute outfits, the Wolfpack turned in a less than inspiring performance :(
Ethan's ready to go play with Bob the cat!
CHEEEEEEESEEEE!!
Look at that handsome smile :)
Two silly gingers <3
Ethan and Aunt Becky doing some good work!
The Halloween festivities continued at a neighborhood party with Goggi and Papa Bill!
Tommy loved playing air hockey at the party!
Go Team Goggi and Ethan!
The boys had so much fun this week--it makes me so excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's nice when they start to understand traditions and holidays. Thanks again so much to both sets of Grandparents for their willingness to watch the boys--they love all of you so much!!
Life Lesson: Flattery
Last week I wrote about encouragement--a concept that I am very passionate about. There is almost nothing better to me than being motivated, and motivating others. That said, I do want to just take a brief moment to draw a distinction between true encouragement/praise and flattery. As much as I love true words of affirmation, I equally hate insincere words. Many times people will try to "get ahead" or impress someone by flattery. Be careful to never say something to someone that you don't believe, even if it's the expected response. Flattery is deceitful, and it doesn't do anyone any good. It may very well be uncomfortable, as plenty of people these days "fish" for compliments! We've all been there--"do I look fat in this?". Let me tell you something, and my friends can vouch for this--you will not hear an insincere response out of me no matter what, so don't be offended!! I very well may plead the 5th, but I refuse to lie to you and myself--so here's your fair warning before you ask me any questions!! :) BUT, as far as I'm concerned, as long as you are being sincere, you can compliment, encourage, praise, and appreciate someone as much as you want! However, give one compliment that you don't mean, and you're jeopardizing the credibility of every sincere comment you've made. So, now you all know that if I've ever said something nice to you, I've meant every word of it!
